I think they should put a disclaimer on Myspace similar to the one on cigarettes warning about the risk. There are people who would still be alive if it wasn't for Myspace. Just a few weeks back some girl killed herself because some lady decided to cultivate a friendship with her under a false guise as a boy then told her she should kill herself. And the girl did. Granted, it was the girls low self esteem and emotional instability that facilitated it. But the fact that some middle aged woman, who should be running kids to soccer practice and going to book clubs, sat down and created an entire persona for the sole purpose of harassing a teenage girl, who generally are wound up tight emotionally to begin with, is fucking egregious. And her excuse is even worse! She said the reason she did it was to spy on her and see what she was saying about her own daughter! Remember the good ol' days when parents would discuss such matters with each other instead of pushing a 13 year old child to the frayed ends of sanity through covert roleplaying online?
And just today I read about some moron in New York who posted a comment that a kid named Aaron wanted to rape a girl, whose name CNN is keeping anonymous. So they're all at a kegger, eloquently termed 'Beer Bash' by CNN, and this girl gets Aaron bounced from the party for this bogus message on Myspace. But apparently thats enough for little 17 year old wanna be tough guy John Ciccero, who just looks like a stereotypical Italian brat. So Johnny and some boys call up Aaron, make some threats, call names and everything else brave gangs of high schoolers do over the phone. But, nope, still not good enough for Johnny and his henchmen so they show up at Aaron's house, all drunk and underage, to fight Aaron. Instead, his dad comes out with a gun.
This is where I stop believing either side because the race card arbitrarily comes in, and I'm assuming, because no specific examples of racial slurs or racial threats are given by CNN, that it was the lawyers who dug up the race issue. Aaron's dad, who is black, said Johnny reached for the gun and it accidentally went off. He further states he was concerned about this group of white high schoolers burning his house down and invokes the fact the Klan burned down his granddads property back in the 1920s as proof of intent that these kids were not drunk high schoolers seeking a vendetta over some stupid drama queen bitch (whom they probably thought was going to blow them later) but a racially motivated lynch mob.
Where the fuck were Johnny's parents when he was out drinking, driving drunk and fighting at 17 years old? They obviously weren't that concerned for his safety to have not known what their son was getting into. Or they did know, and let it go which is worse.
I believe that every man has a right to defend his home but don't you think Aaron's dad just could have stepped outside and slapped the leader around instead of brandishing a gun??
What a fucking mess. And what started all of it?? Myspace drama.

Myspace doesn't kill people any more than guns do. The underlying problem is that people are stupid. Myspace + stupid equals dead people. Same thing with guns + stupid, or any other of the various things that facilitate early death. Similarly people often say that if not for religion there would be less wars. I think if religion didn't exists people would find other reasons to kill each other.
You're right, Myspace doesn't kill anyone. However, in this case it was the catalyst.
I don't think religion is the main reason people kill each, but it's five in the morning (MST) So I'm going to point you in the direction of Will Durant's Story of Civilization, Volume one. No where else does there exist such a finer explanation of human nature than the first three chapters.
Theres ten volumes in the series... once you read one you'll want to read them all especially if you're a fan of philosophy or history.
